Recreation of a Royal Altar
┬ęKathy Curnow

This former museum exhibit attempted to recreate several royal ancestral altars, mimicking their curved platform, brass aseberia sculpture at the center, and an assortment of brass heads, bells, wooden ukhurhe staffs, eben ceremonial sword, prehistoric stone axe heads and chalk. The ukhurhe assortment, however, mixes non-royal and deity-related examples with those meant for the monarch's altar, and the heads include a representation of a chief with his distinctive transverse-crest hairstyle. Because the exhibit strives for visibility, items are less crowded in their display.
