It is by no means certain that this altar was part of the palace complex, but many palace courtyards included altars, no matter their main purpose. This example shows numerous vessels, wooden ukhurhe staffs, and peeled wand "whips." Although fluted walls were common in the palace and on chiefs' homes, fluted clay altars were less so.
