The large ugha palace courtyard that houses the royal ancestral shrines also hosted the wedding of Oba Erediauwa's eldest daughter, Theresa, in 1994. A traditional ceremony took place here after the bride's Catholic wedding at Holy Cross Cathedral. She changed from her white wedding gown to a red ododo wrapper, and received multiple gifts of coral beads and other gifts from her father. Edo brides customarily are seated on the lap of the eldest member of their husband's family during their wedding, but the princess was seated on the monarch's lap.
